Opening soon, Te Nīkau, Grey Hospital and Health Centre is designed to be a one stop shop for health care on the West Coast.
From the most urgent and seriously unwell people who require emergency or specialist care to those with planned appointments to see their general practice team, there is time and space at Te Nīkau for everyone who needs health care.
The main entrance to Te Nīkau is still off High Street, come up over the bridge and turn right.
Access to all services is via the main entrance on the Ground Floor, under the canopy. There are more than 100 car parks available with mobility parks close to the main entrance.
From the main reception you’ll be directed to the appropriate waiting area if you have an appointment. If you don’t have an appointment, you will be seen by a nurse who will ask some questions and refer you on to where you need to go.
Depending on your needs, you may be directed to the Emergency Department or the Urgent Care clinic. This is a new service to ensure people are seen in the right place at the right time, by the right team.
There are no set appointments for the Urgent Care service and you may need to wait as people are seen based on clinical need.
Urgent Care appointments will incur a fee which will be the same cost you would pay to see a GP. Costs vary for enrolled and unenrolled patients and non-residents.
You can find a full schedule of these fees here.
