Ngakawau Clinic is introducing the following temporary changes to services over the next week to accommodate reduced staffing capacity.
- On Friday, 8 March, the clinic will be closed to walk-in appointments.
- There will be no appointments available on Monday, 11 March and Tuesday, 12 March 2024. On these days, urgent presentations can be seen at Buller Medical Centre’s unplanned clinic.
Please phone the Ngakawau Clinic on 03 788 5062 as usual for appointments, repeat scripts and results.
PRIME callouts will be provided by St John.
Our community nursing team will continue to attend patients identified as requiring district nursing care on these days.
GP clinics will be held on Thursday, 7 March as well as Thursday, 14 March 2024.

This will ensure that you get to access appropriate treatment and medication to help you stay well, even if you are at home isolating.
- Ka Ora, a new rural after-hours virtual telehealth service providing virtual GP consultations is now available for eligible rural communities. People can access the service by calling 0800 2 KA ORA (0800 252 672) *fees apply for some people.
- For pregnancy support and advice over the phone, please call your midwife/LMC (Lead Maternity Carer).
- If you have questions about your young child or baby’s health phone Plunketline on 0800 933 922 to speak to a Plunket nurse.
- You might also like to try a virtual consultation with a New Zealand registered health practitioner without seeing them in person. This is also called a virtual consult or telehealth. You can find a list of virtual care providers on healthify.nz.
